Logging wheels

Logging wheels are used in forestry for transporting tree trunks. The trunk is suspended on the logging wheels which allows the load to be lightened and minimises contact with the ground. The difficulty is finding the right place to attach the chain to achieve good balance.

This technique is particularly good for the forest floor because the trunk is only intermittently in contact with it when the horse stops or slows down. It is thus the ideal method for removing a tree from a lawn for example, without taking everything else with it...
