116e national championship of belgian draft horse. The champions 2011 are Tijn van de Vliegert (van Langenhove Eddy) and Rani van Luchteren (Stal Van Doorselaere).
N°142 - Horse pulling contest, Libramont
Very nice handling exercise in this competition which brought together participants Walloon, Flemish, but also two Czech and one German.
As Jean-Claude Louis (Contest Manager) says in an interview for the newspaper Vers l'Avenir, a good horse should not be tough, but polyvalent. That is to say, "Horses who listen. Horses that are in harmony with their boss. It was for this reason we proposed this year, exercises that require high precision."

N°131 - Meerdaalhof's opendoor day
Trait pour Trait participated for the second time at Meerdaalhof's opendoor day. This year, with a demonstration of handling the cord, the afternoon followed by a demonstration of horselogging in real situations. Various performances and demonstrations have followed all day, with among others the horses stables De Brabander, and the presentation of 22 breeds of horses.

The agricultural sector has invaded the grand Place de Louvain-la-Neuve. Eddy Van der Schueren presented his draft horses in harness, to the delight of our Minister of Agriculture, Mrs. Sabine Laruelle.

N°101 - Trekpaardenhappening at Evergem
Walking and show at the 12th edition of trekpaardenhappening's Stable De Brabander. During the show in the afternoon, we have see, among others, two very good benefits, a Hungarian post with five horses and a carriage with 16 horses (draft horse of course!).
N°99 - CHIO Aachen
This year the official partner of the CHIO in Aachen was Flanders. Several groups have gone to Belgium to perform during the show jumping, among others, the fishermen Oostduinkerke, stables Henkens Maaseik and the stables of Evergem De Brabander. Marc and I had the pleasure to be part of the team De Brabander to do the pyramid. We had two shows a day, in the main stadium (15 000 people) and in the dressage stadium (8000 people). The audience was very enthusiastic and Belgian draft horses was really under spotlight.

Agriflanders, the Salon de l'Agriculture Ghent. This is an opportunity to see our draft horses in the traditional breeding competition and show. And this year the Royal Society of Belgian draft horse showed drawings by Isabelle in his stand.

De team De Brabander have a tradition of closing the year with a trip to the sea. The sea water is excellent for the maintenance of the legs of horses. A great atmosphere despite the freezing cold!

N°77 - Horselogging at Bercuit golf
Golfers like to practice their sport in the calm, then the silence of draft horses was brilliant to remove the logs. Thank you to the reinforcement (Dominique, Hugo, Markus, Jean-Pierre and Largo) who came back Ulysses and Marc to meet the deadlines of the yard. Teamwork, there is nothing like it!
N°73 - Sint Hubert at Villers-la-Ville
Many riders were at the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville for the blessing of the horses. After it, we are left with few hitches for a "rallye" in sunny land around.
N°72 - By Decoplant
By Decoplant, they work with horses on plantations. Eddy Van der Schueren welcomed us to expose the drawings of Isabelle when during its doors open day. He also proposed a visit of the plantations in carriage, and a demonstration at the aerator.
N°71 - The festivals of beech
The festivals of beech is a musical event which takes place on an exceptional site in the heart of the forest Merode, around a crown formed by five beech. Marc and Ulysses came logger woods that were used to mount the stage.
N°70 - 732nd Tour St. Gertrude
Pilgrims braved the rain to 15km. They followed the St. Gertrude's shrine drawn by 6 draft horses in line. Such deluge was rather epic, and there is no doubt that we will remenber the 2008 edition! The horses managed to climb the shrine at the top of "grand peine", which bring happiness to the town of Nivelles for a year.
N°68 - "Parcours environnement" at Waterloo
The "parcours environment" is a Waterloo event for the general public. We have exhibit tools, press articles (from magazine Sabots) and educational panels over working with horse.

The brewery Kwak had a beautiful set of vintage cars (Coupé,truck, omnibus) with Frisian horses, and there was a barrel of the brewery Bokor pulled by Shires. Only one question: where are the Belgian draft horses?

N°60 - Opendoor day at La Bourrache"
La Bourrache is an EFT (business training through work) in gardening and maintenance park and garden. They grow organically and ecological their 60 acres of land in the heart of Liege. While working the land is made either by hand or with draft horse, not a machine motor on the horizon!

The team de Brabander had concocted a splendid day for the 11th year. What a delight to see in promenade riders (with or without draft horses), carriage, and even cycling, and Shetland pony. The public came numerous to see the afternoon show!

Trait for Trait was present at the horse's day at Hargnies, which combines the horselogging, the carriage, riding, presentations and various exhibitors, in a very friendly atmosphere.
